FW Gallery v4.10.0 release - new description position

This release introduces a new feature allowing to display gallery description next to the gallery. Earlier, the description could be placed above the gallery only. Additionally, you can now assign geotags to a gallery and display this gallery on a map using galleries filter. We have also done several significant improvements and bug fixes. Let’s review all changes below:

New:

  • Gallery description next to the gallery. This feature allows to display description at the right of the gallery. As a result, the gallery and description are placed at eye-level allowing for better readability when long descriptions are added to the galleries. 

  • Tags display on the gallery view. Earlier tags assigned to the gallery didn’t display on the gallery page. Now the tags assigned to the gallery are displayed underneath the gallery title.

  • Search by ID. To simplify files management via the admin panel, we have added the ability to search for files by ID. 

  • Search by tag. We have added a search by tag filter to the files management section so you could search for files by tags via the admin panel.   

  • Custom CSS style section. We have added CSS style section in admin panel so the users could edit CSS styles of the component directly via Joomla admin panel.

  • Gallery display in a map module. We have added galleries filter to the map module settings. With this filter, you can choose the galleries you want to display on the map.  


Updated:

  • Renamed Default design to Fancy. We have renamed Default design to Fancy to avoid confusion with the default option allowing to set priority between menu item settings and global settings

  • Geotag for a gallery. Now you can assign a geotag to the gallery. A gallery with a geotag is added to the galleries filter, in the map module settings. As a result, this gallery can be displayed on the map.

  • Default image setting for a front-end manager. Now, the default cover image can be set for a gallery via the front-end manager.


Bug fix:

  • Tags display in menu item settings. Fixed tags display in menu item layout settings. Earlier the tags added for a new gallery didn’t display in menu item layout settings

  • Tags order. Synchronized the order of the tags between the front-end and back-end. 

  • Batch upload via the front-end manager. Batch upload didn’t work for the front-end manager.

  • File description. Fixed the file description display in the below position.

  • Video cover upload. It was impossible to upload a video cover for a gallery.

  • Magnifier display. Fixed magnifier display in the lightbox.

FW Gallery: portfolio of the interior studio

In this article, we will review a professional and good-looking showcase of the portfolio website created with FW Gallery. The showcase is dedicated to the portfolio of the interior studio. A portfolio website is an essential tool for developing your business and building your professional brand. You can use this showcase to create your own portfolio website involving the presentation of products or services with media content.

However, before proceeding with creating the interior studio showcase, you need to prepare media content and install FW Gallery to your Joomla platform. To learn how to get started with FW Gallery, review Getting started documentation page. If you have media content and FW Gallery in place, it takes around one hour to build a similar website. The overall process for creating such a website looks as follows:
  • Prepare media content - photos grouped by services.

  • Install FW Gallery to present your services with a clean design.

  • Create required galleries to show service categories and different types of services inside them.

  • Display all images to show services with their images and descriptions.

  • Display a map using FW Gallery Map module.

Top-level gallery

If your business offers different services directions, you need to create an upper-level gallery with subgalleries page. We created Interior Studio page to show different services directions provided by the interior studio. This page is implemented via the galleries view. Each gallery presents a specific service direction - residential, commercial, and resort and spa. However, if you’re specialized in the specific service direction, you can skip this step. 
 
 
The page includes the following elements:
 
• Title of the parent gallery. The title of the interior studio. You can use it to specify the title of your company.

• Suballeries titles. Titles of services directions offered by the interior studio. You can use it to specify different services directions your business offers to your customers. 

• Gallery preview image. A preview image of the service direction. You can set a preview image or video to showcase your services directions. 


Projects by location section

If you offer your services globally not locally,  you can use a map module to show the geography of your services. A projects by location section shows geography of services offered by the interior studio. Just assign a geotag to the file/gallery and set module settings to display your projects by location. In our showcase, we assigned geotags to the galleries we created for the services provided at different locations. 
 
 

Page with projects

On this page, you can see different projects implemented by the interior studio. This is a lower level gallery with subgalleries showing all projects on a single page - one gallery for each specific project. 
 
 
The page includes the following elements:
 
1. Gallery title. The title of services direction provided by the interior studio. Specify your services detection using this element.

2. Subgallery title. The title of the project implemented by the interior studio. You can use this element to specify either your project or service type.

3. Preview image. The preview image of the project. You can set the image of video as a preview for the gallery representing your project or service type. 


Project page

This project page is an eye-catching mix of text and images. It is realized via the gallery view. It depends of your business idea whether or not to use long descriptions. In our showcase, we used long descriptions which are a common case for interior studios. If long descriptions are used, placing them next to the galleries looks cool and allows for better readability. 
 
The page includes the following elements:
 
1. Gallery title. Specify a project title using this element. You can also use it to specify a service type.

2. Gallery section. Multiple photos of the project. You can upload images and/or videos to showcase your project/service.

3. Gallery description. A description of the project. You can place a description either at the right side of the gallery or above the gallery. 

 

Project presentation with lightbox

In our showcase, we used a lightbox to display large images. The lightbox features a slider showing all images within the gallery. Clicking on the image within the slider allows a visitor to view the image in a larger size. The lightbox allows to take fewer actions to view the gallery without creating new tabs and waiting for a new page to load.
