Text Menu Design Template
The Text Menu Design template gives FW Food Menu a clean, typography-focused layout that presents your menu as a structured text list — no images, no visual clutter. The result closely resembles a traditional printed restaurant menu, with item names, descriptions, and prices arranged in clear, readable rows.
Ideal Use Cases
- Wine lists and beverage menus — photography adds little value here; the focus stays on names, descriptions, and pricing.
- Printed menu replicas — recreate the look and feel of a paper menu for an authentic, classic presentation online.
- Fast-loading environments — with minimal assets, this is the lightest FW Food Menu template available, making it well suited to venues with slow in-house Wi-Fi or where page speed is a priority.
How to Activate
- Install the Text Menu Design addon via FW Food Menu → Addons.
- Enable the corresponding plugin in the Plugin Manager.
- Go to Settings → General → Theme and select Text Menu.
Only one design template plugin can be active at a time. If another design template is currently enabled, deactivate it before switching to Text Menu.
Layout Areas
The template provides layout overrides across all key areas of the menu:
- Menu listing — text-only item rows displaying the item name, description, and price.
- Item detail — a clean single-item view with no image slots.
- Pagination — minimal pagination styling consistent with the text-only aesthetic.
- Plugin overrides — adjusted layouts for cart and price plugins to match the text design.
Compatibility Notes
- Works well alongside the Tab Categories plugin, which adds tab-based navigation to the text layout.
- Does not require the Image plugin. If the Image plugin is active on your site, images are automatically hidden when the Text Menu theme is in use — no additional configuration is needed.
