FW Food Menu – Documentation

The FWFM Cart Module displays a shopping cart widget inside any Joomla module position. It shows the current cart contents, item count, and total, along with a link to the full checkout form — giving visitors a persistent view of their order as they browse your menu.

Use Cases

• Persistent cart icon in the header — place the module in your site's header position so the cart icon and item count remain visible on every page as guests browse the menu.
• Sidebar cart summary — display a compact cart overview in a sidebar position alongside your menu listing, so customers can review their selections without navigating away.

Requirements

The module has no functionality on its own. It delegates all rendering to the Cart plugin, which must be installed and active. Without the Cart plugin, the module displays nothing. The cart widget's visual appearance also inherits styles from whichever design template plugin is currently active.

Creating a Module Instance

1. In the Joomla administrator, go to Extensions → Modules.
2. Click New and select FWFM Cart from the module type list.
3. Give the module a title, assign it to a module position, and set your menu assignment as needed.
4. Configure the parameters described below, then save and publish.

Module Parameters

• Module class suffix — a CSS class appended to the module wrapper element. Use this to apply custom styling to a specific instance of the cart module without affecting other modules on the page.

How Cart Data Works

Cart data is stored client-side using the session or a cookie, and is synchronised with the server each time the cart is updated. The Cart plugin supplies the full cart layout — including current items, quantities, the order total, and the checkout button — which the module renders into its assigned position.
