FWFM Multilingual
The FWFM Multilingual addon enables per-language translation of database-stored content in FW Food Menu — specifically menu item titles, descriptions, category fields, and order-related email templates. Interface strings throughout the component are already handled by standard Joomla language files; this addon covers content you enter directly into the editor.
What It Adds
- A language switcher inside the menu item and category edit forms, allowing you to enter titles, descriptions, and other text fields separately for each installed Joomla language.
- A language filter in the admin item and category list views.
- Per-language tabs for email template fields inside Settings → Email Templates.
Requirements
Multiple languages must be installed and enabled in Joomla's Language Manager before translations can be entered. Without additional languages active, the switcher has nothing to switch between.
Entering Translations for Items and Categories
- Open any menu item or category in the FW Food Menu admin.
- Use the language switcher at the top of the edit form to select the target language.
- Enter the translated title, description, and any other text fields for that language.
- Repeat for each additional language, then save.
If a translation is missing for a given language, FW Food Menu falls back to the default language content automatically.
Per-Language Email Templates
When the addon is active, the following fields in Settings → Email Templates become translatable per language:
- Order message — text shown to the customer after a successful order
- New order: subject and body — email sent when a new order is placed
- Status change: subject and body — email sent when an order status is updated
- Paid: subject and body — email sent when an order is marked as paid
- Cancelled: subject and body — email sent on cancellation
- Completed: subject and body — email sent on completion
Configure each template for every language your site serves to ensure customers receive communications in their own language.
Notes
- Translations are stored per language tag (for example,
en-GB or fr-FR).
- The addon is only necessary when menu content — titles and descriptions — must differ by language. The component's own admin interface already supports multiple languages out of the box via standard Joomla language files.
To install this addon, open the Add-ons panel inside FW Food Menu. See Getting Started → Add-ons for details on free addons, paid addons, and site verification.
