FW Food Menu – Documentation

The FWFM Image addon adds image upload and display support to your menu. Without it, menu items and categories are text-only. Once active, each meal can carry one or more photos shown on listing cards and detail pages, and each category can display a header image.

Use Cases

• Visual menu — upload a hero photo per meal so guests can see each dish on the listing page before clicking through.
• Gallery per meal — upload multiple photos for a dish and display them as a gallery or slideshow on the meal detail page.
• Category images — add a banner or header image to each menu category section.

Images on Menu Items

When the addon is active, an Images tab appears in the menu item edit form. You can upload one or multiple photos, drag to reorder them, and set alt text for each.

• Images — upload zone for one or multiple meal photos; drag-to-sort reordering is supported.
• Image alt text — descriptive text for each photo, used for SEO and accessibility.

The first uploaded image is used as the primary thumbnail everywhere the meal appears. Image order is controlled entirely by the drag-to-sort handle in the edit form.

Images on Categories

A category image field is added to the category edit form, allowing you to display a banner or header image alongside the category title.

• Category image — single image displayed as a category section header or banner.
• Image alignment — controls the position of the category image relative to the category title. Available alignment options depend on the active design template plugin.

Frontend Display

• Listing page — the first meal image appears as a thumbnail on each meal card.
• Meal detail page — the first image is shown full-size; any additional images appear in a gallery or slideshow below.
• Category section — the category image is shown above or beside the category title.

Notes

• No server-side resizing is applied by default — upload images at an appropriate size for your layout.
• Images are stored in the Joomla media folder.
