FW Food Menu – Documentation

The FWFM Cascading Layout addon replaces the default single-page scrollable layout with a tab-driven category switcher. Categories appear as a horizontal navigation strip at the top of the menu, and their items cascade below as each tab is selected.

How It Differs from the Default Layout

The default FW Food Menu layout presents all categories and items on a single scrollable page. The Cascading layout instead organises categories as tabs, showing only one category's items at a time. This keeps navigation visible without requiring the visitor to scroll past long item lists.

Use Cases

• Large menus — restaurants with many categories benefit from persistent horizontal navigation that remains visible as items are browsed.
• QR code menus — the compact, app-like feel suits table-side digital menus where screen space is limited.

Enabling the Cascading Layout

After installing the addon, go to Settings → General → Theme and select Cascading as the active layout. This applies the cascading tab style across your entire menu. You can also apply it on a per-category basis by editing an individual category and selecting the layout there.

Settings

The following settings are available under Settings → General once the addon is active:

• Tab alignment — Controls the horizontal alignment of the category tab strip. Options are Left, Center, or Right. Defaults to Left.
• Show categories as — Sets the navigation style. Choose Horizontal for a tab strip across the top, or Vertical for a side column. Defaults to Horizontal.

Per-Category Overrides

Each category can override the global cascading settings. Open the category edit form to access these options:

• Tab alignment — Overrides the global tab alignment for this specific category level.
• Display style — Sets horizontal or vertical navigation independently for this category level.

Notes

• The Cascading and Tab Categories addons provide similar functionality with different styling approaches. Only one should be active at a time.
• This layout works best with the default FW Food Menu template. Compatibility with design template addons depends on the template in use.
