Featured
The Featured addon adds a featured flag to individual gallery files, letting you pin important images to the top of grids, apply visual highlights, and filter modules to show only curated content.
Use Cases
- Highlight key images — pin the best or most important photos to the top of a gallery grid.
- Module filtering — configure Latest or Carousel modules to display only featured images on your homepage or sidebar.
- Editor's picks — mark curated selections for special visual treatment without reorganising the entire gallery.
Marking a File as Featured
There are two ways to mark a file as featured:
- Files list — Go to FW Gallery → Files, select one or more files, then click the Feature or Unfeature toolbar button.
- File edit form — Open a file for editing and toggle the Featured field directly on the edit page.
Settings
The Featured addon settings are located under Settings → Addons tab → Featured card.

When Top ordering is selected, featured files always appear before non-featured files regardless of the standard sort order. Featured files are sorted among themselves using the default ordering, with non-featured files following after.
Frontend Display
Featured files receive the CSS class fwmg-grid-item-featured, which design template plugins use to display a visual badge or highlight on the grid item.
The Latest and Carousel modules include a Featured filter parameter that restricts the module output to featured files only — useful for showcasing picks in a sidebar or homepage slot.
Additional Notes
- There is no limit to how many files can be marked as featured.
- Featured ordering overrides other sort options at the gallery level.
