FWRE Mortgage Calculator
FW Real Estate tutorial for Joomla!
The FWRE Mortgage Calculator module adds an interactive financing tool to your Joomla site. Visitors enter a property price, down payment, loan term, and interest rate to see an estimated monthly payment. A full amortization schedule below the result breaks down principal and interest — either month by month or year by year — for the entire loan term. All fields update in real time without a page reload.
Use Cases
- Property detail sidebar — display the calculator alongside a listing so buyers can immediately estimate payments for that property's price.
- Homepage financing widget — embed the calculator on the homepage to help first-time buyers explore what they can afford before browsing listings.
- Standalone calculator page — assign the module to a full-content position to create a dedicated financing tools page.
Creating a Module Instance
Go to Extensions → Modules → New and select FWRE Mortgage Calculator from the module type list. Set a title, choose your menu assignment, and configure the parameters below.
Module Parameters

| Default loan term | 10 years | Pre-selected loan term. Options: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 years. |
| Default annual interest rate (%) | 30 | Pre-filled annual interest rate. |
| Hide annual property taxes | No | Set to Yes to remove the property tax field from the calculator. |
| Annual property tax rate (%) | 1 | Default property tax rate, visible when the field is not hidden. |
| Hide annual hazard insurance | No | Set to Yes to remove the hazard insurance field. |
| Annual hazard insurance rate (%) | 0.5 | Default hazard insurance rate, visible when the field is not hidden. |
| Hide monthly mortgage insurance | No | Set to Yes to remove the PMI field from the calculator. |
| Monthly mortgage insurance rate (%) | 0.02 | Default PMI rate, visible when the field is not hidden. |
| Amortization schedule | Yearly | Display the breakdown table by month or by year. |
| Position on property page | Right | Where the calculator appears on the single property detail page: Hide, Right, or Bottom. |
Notes
- All fields are fully interactive — any change a visitor makes updates the result instantly without reloading the page.
- When Position on property page is set to Right or Bottom, the active design template embeds the calculator automatically in the property detail view. No separate module position assignment is needed for that page.
- Default values are starting points only — visitors can override every field freely.
