FW Real Estate – Documentation

The FWRE Compare Properties addon lets visitors select multiple properties and view them side by side in a structured comparison table. Field values are aligned in rows, making it easy to spot differences in price, area, bedrooms, amenities, and any custom fields you have configured.

How It Works on the Frontend

Once the addon is active, a Compare checkbox or button appears on each property card in your listing views. Visitors tick the properties they want to evaluate — typically between two and four — then click the Compare action to open the full comparison table.

The comparison table displays one column per selected property, with all standard and custom property fields listed as rows. If a field has no value for a given property, the cell shows a dash or is hidden, depending on your active design template. The visitor's selection is stored in a browser session cookie, so it persists as they navigate between pages during the same visit.

Use Cases

• Buyer decision support — a visitor shortlists several apartments and compares price, floor area, bedroom count, and amenities in one table before contacting an agent.
• Rental platforms — help tenants weigh properties against each other on price, location, and availability before making an enquiry.

Setting Up the Comparison Page

To give the comparison table a dedicated URL in your site's navigation, create a menu item pointing to the compare view:

1. In the Joomla menu manager, add a new menu item.
2. Set the Menu Item Type to FW Real Estate → Compare Properties.
3. Save the menu item. This page is the destination visitors reach after clicking the Compare action on a listing.

Settings

This addon has no configurable settings panel. The compare checkbox and table functionality are enabled automatically across your property listing pages as soon as the addon is active. The maximum number of properties that can be compared at once — typically three or four — is determined by your active design template's layout rather than a plugin setting.
