The Favorites add-on lets visitors save properties to a personal shortlist, keeps that shortlist in their account across sessions and devices, and e-mails them when the price of a saved property changes.
Buying property takes weeks. A visitor who liked three listings today will not remember which three next week, and if they cannot find them again they will search somewhere else. A shortlist is the cheapest way to make a site worth returning to — and a price alert is a reason to come back that you do not have to think of yourself.
Use Cases
- A shortlist that survives the session. Saved to the visitor's account, so it is there on the next visit and on a different device.
- Price alerts. A watcher is told when something they saved gets cheaper — precisely when they are most likely to act.
- Capturing the shortlist as a lead. "Send me my saved list" turns an anonymous shortlist into a named contact with specific properties attached — a far warmer lead than a bare enquiry form submission.
- Understanding demand. Which properties get saved most signals pricing and presentation issues before anyone calls.
What the Visitor Sees
- A heart on every listing card and on the property page.
- A Favourites section in the account area, reached through a User Section menu item, listing all saved properties.
- A dashboard card in the account area showing how many properties are saved.
Saving requires an account. A visitor who is not signed in is told to sign in rather than losing the click silently. The trade-off is deliberate: the shortlist follows the person rather than the browser, at the cost of a sign-in step.
Price Alert Settings
These settings are found under Configuration → Add-ons.
- Alert on price — choose Decrease only or Any change. Decrease-only is the alert that gets opened.
- Threshold — how large a change must be before an e-mail is sent. A rounding correction should not reach anyone's inbox.
- Subject, body, and per-property templates — the content of the alert e-mail.
Alerts are sent by the site's scheduled job, not at the moment a visitor saves a property.
Email Lead Capture Settings
- Offer "email me my saved list" — adds a button that e-mails the visitor their shortlist. The address they provide is recorded as a lead in FW Real Estate → Messages, with the saved properties attached.
- Subject, body, and per-property templates — the content of the shortlist e-mail.
Notes
- A price alert is a promise. Set the threshold so that only a change worth knowing about sends mail. A site that e-mails about every minor correction gets filtered.
- Favourite counts are recorded per property, so the properties list reflects what visitors are actually shortlisting — useful before anyone picks up the phone.
- Disabling the add-on removes the hearts, the account section, and the alerts. Saved lists remain in the database and are restored if the add-on is re-enabled.
