Video
The FWRE Video addon adds a video section to each property listing, letting visitors watch a property walkthrough directly on the detail page. You can attach video through three methods: embed from a provider like YouTube or Vimeo, link to a remotely hosted video file, or upload a local video file directly.
Adding a Video to a Property
Open any property in the edit form and go to the Media tab. The plugin injects a Videos section here with three source options. Only one video per property is supported — choose whichever method fits your workflow.
Video from Provider
Use this option to embed a video hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, or a similar platform.
- Video provider — select the hosting platform from the dropdown.
- Video ID — enter the identifier from the video URL (for example,
dQw4w9WgXcQfor a YouTube link).
The provider's native player is embedded on the property detail page, so visitors get the full playback controls they are already familiar with.
Remote Video File
Use this option to link to a video file hosted on your own server or a CDN.
- URL to video file — paste the direct URL to the hosted video.
- Cover image — optional JPG or PNG thumbnail displayed before the visitor presses play.
Upload Video
Use this option to upload a video file directly to your Joomla site — useful for short clips recorded on a phone without an external hosting service.
- Video file — supported formats: MP4, WebM, MOV.
- Cover image — optional JPG or PNG thumbnail displayed before the visitor presses play.
Frontend Display
The video player appears on the property detail page. Provider videos use the platform's embedded player. Remote and uploaded videos use an HTML5 player. When a cover image is set, it appears as the poster until playback begins. If no video has been added to a property, the video section is not shown at all on the frontend.
Additional Behaviour
- Play-on-hover preview — listing cards show a silent, auto-playing clip when a visitor hovers over the property image, giving a quick feel for the property without opening the detail page.
- Lazy-load player — the video player initialises only when scrolled into view, reducing initial page load time. A poster image and play button act as the placeholder.
- VideoObject structured data — a
VideoObjectJSON-LD block is automatically added to the page<head>whenever a property has a video, enabling video rich results in Google Search.
