FW Real Estate – Documentation

Agents

FW Real Estate tutorial for WordPress

The Agents add-on turns a property catalogue into an agency. It adds agent profiles with photo, company details, and contact information; a public directory; agent assignment to properties; a bookable viewing calendar; visitor reviews; and an account area where each agent manages their own presence.

Property is bought from people. A listing with a named agent, a face, and a phone number converts better than the same listing with a contact form alone — and once an agent owns their listings, enquiries reach the person who can answer them instead of a shared inbox.

Use Cases

  • The people behind the agency. A directory that shows who you are — which is what a first-time visitor checks before calling anyone.
  • The right person on the right property. Assign agents to properties so each property page shows the responsible agent.
  • Bookable viewings. Visitors pick from the agent's own availability rather than emailing to ask when is convenient.
  • Reviews. Visitors leave feedback on an agent — social proof attached to a person, not just the site.
  • Agents who maintain themselves. Each agent edits their own profile and tracks their own activity, so keeping the directory current is not the administrator's job.

The Agent Record

An agent is a site user with a profile: photo, first and last name, company name and company logo, phone, email, biography, and a title (for example, "Senior Agent" or "Branch Manager") drawn from a dictionary this add-on introduces. Using a shared dictionary keeps titles consistent and translatable across the site.

Photos display at approximately 150×150 pixels; company logos at approximately 200×50 pixels. Uploading images at roughly those proportions avoids unwanted cropping.

Each agent also carries availability — the days and hours they accept viewings, with each day having its own time window. Visitors can only book appointments within those windows.

Settings

These settings are found under Configuration → Add-ons → Agents.

SettingDescription
Approve new agents automaticallyWhen off, a new agent registration waits for an administrator to approve it. Leave this off on a public site — this is the setting that prevents anyone from adding themselves to your agency page.

Notification Emails

Each notification has its own subject and body, so the agency can write in its own voice:

  • Registration / approval — sent when a new agent registers.
  • Account approved — sent when an administrator approves the registration.
  • New booking — sent when a visitor books a viewing.
  • Listing favourited — sent when a visitor shortlists one of the agent's properties.
  • Listing compared — sent when a visitor adds one of the agent's properties to a comparison.

The last two are particularly useful: an agent learns someone has shortlisted or compared their property — an early signal of interest before any enquiry has been sent.

What the Agent Sees When Signed In

A signed-in agent has access to their own account sections on the My Account page: their profile to edit, and their activity. When the Property Manager add-on is also active, the agent additionally sees their own listings and enquiries.

Front-End Surfaces

  • Agent directory — added to any page with the [fwre_agents] shortcode or the Agents block.
  • Agent profile page — lists that agent's properties and their reviews.
  • Agent block on the property page — displayed in the position configured above.
  • Booking calendar — shown on the agent profile when the agent has availability set.
  • Agent filter in search — lets visitors browse the listings of a specific agent.

Notes

  • Agents are site users — the platform's own account system handles sign-in and passwords; this add-on adds the profile layer and permissions around it.
  • Agent fields are CSV columns, so agent assignments round-trip through a spreadsheet alongside property data.
  • Without this add-on the entire concept of an agent is absent — no directory, no assignment, no agent filter, and no agent column in CSV exports. Enquiries then require a property-level email address to have anywhere to go.
  • Disabling the add-on hides agents from the front end; the records are preserved and reappear when it is re-enabled.
