The Favorites add-on lets visitors save properties to a personal shortlist, keeps that shortlist in their account, and e-mails them when the price of a saved property changes.
Buying property takes weeks. A visitor who liked three of your listings today will not remember which three next week — and if they cannot find them again, they will search somewhere else. A shortlist is the cheapest way to make a site worth returning to, and the price alert gives them a reason to come back that you do not have to think of yourself.
Use Cases
- A shortlist that survives the session. Saved to the account, the shortlist is available on the next visit and on a different device.
- Price alerts. A visitor is notified when something they saved gets cheaper — precisely when they are most likely to act.
- Capturing the shortlist as a lead. The "send me my saved list" button turns an anonymous shortlist into a named contact with specific properties attached. That is a far warmer lead than a bare enquiry, because you already know what they want.
- Understanding demand. Which properties get saved most is a signal about pricing and photography, before anyone calls.
What the Visitor Sees
- A heart on every listing card and on the property page.
- A Favourites section in the account area, listing all saved properties.
- A card on the account dashboard showing how many properties are saved.
Saving requires an account. A visitor who is not signed in is told to sign in rather than losing the click silently. The shortlist follows the person rather than the browser, at the cost of a sign-in step.
Price Alert Settings
- Alert on price — Choose Decrease only or Any change. Decrease-only is the alert that gets opened.
- Threshold — The minimum change that triggers an e-mail. A rounding correction should not reach anyone's inbox.
- Subject, body, and per-property templates — The e-mail sent to the visitor.
Alerts are sent by the site's scheduled job, not while a visitor is waiting on a save action.
Email Lead Capture Settings
- Offer "email me my saved list" — Adds a button that e-mails the visitor their shortlist.
- Subject, body, and per-property templates — The e-mail sent to the visitor.
The address the visitor provides is recorded as a lead in FW Real Estate → Messages, alongside your property enquiries, with the saved properties attached.
Notes
- A price alert is a promise. Set the threshold so that only a change worth knowing about sends mail. A site that e-mails about every small correction gets filtered.
- Favourite counts are recorded per property, so the properties list reflects what visitors are actually shortlisting — a useful signal before anyone contacts you.
- Disabling the add-on removes the hearts, the account section, and the alerts. The saved lists remain in the database and return when the add-on is re-enabled.
